Get answers to common questions about Full Relaxer.
Expect 2–4 hours depending on hair length, density, and texture. Time includes consultation, application, processing, neutralizing, conditioning, and styling. Your stylist will provide a more accurate estimate during your appointment.
A chemical relaxer can weaken hair if improperly applied or over-processed. At Design 25 Salon we assess hair health, use correct timing and professional formulas to minimize damage, and recommend strengthening treatments and maintenance to protect integrity.
Most clients return every 8–12 weeks for touch-ups, depending on growth rate and hair condition. Waiting longer increases contrast and styling complexity. Your stylist will recommend a schedule tailored to your hair’s growth pattern and overall health.
You can color before or after a relaxer, but timing matters. We often recommend coloring first and waiting two weeks before relaxing. If coloring after, wait at least two weeks and perform a strand test to avoid over-processing.
Use sulfate-free shampoos, deep condition weekly, and apply recommended protein or moisturizing treatments. Limit heat styling, protect ends, sleep on silk, and schedule regular trims. Follow your stylist’s product and timing guidance to prolong smooth, healthy results.
We evaluate previously treated or damaged hair before recommending a relaxer. Severely compromised strands may require bond-repair, conditioning programs, or alternative smoothing services. A strand test determines feasibility; safety and hair health are prioritized over immediate straightening.
